Lactose intolerant babies are unable to produce sufficient amounts of lactose in their bodies. Due to inadequacy of lactose, sugar present in milk and dairy products can not be broken down or digested. As milk does not get properly digested, it may lead to gastrointestinal problems later for the child.
Babies who are premature have a higher probability of acquiring this condition, which is why they may end up suffering from diarrhea quite frequently. As the intolerance leads to uneasiness and unpleasant symptoms in the baby, such babies cry a lot causing stress to their mothers. The symptoms usually start occurring up to sixty minutes subsequent to the consumption of milk; whether it is cow?s or mother?s milk.
A few basic symptoms of lactose intolerance include pain and cramps in the abdominal area, bloating, and having gas for up to two hours after the baby has had milk. The intolerance does not only show up when the baby has had milk, but even if he or she eats solid food. This is for those babies who have reached the stage of eating solid food, and if they eat anything made out of dairy products such as cheese, they may experience similar symptoms.
Among babies who show intolerance towards lactose, some may be suffering from a severe case of having symptoms even after a little amount has been consumed, while the rest may not get harmed with small amounts.
Babies suffering from intolerance may experience much intense pain, causing them to be irritated and difficult to soothe. They may cry a lot and wince in pain, which makes it obvious to the mother that they are suffering. Sometimes, the caregiver may think that they are simply hungry, but when the crying persists, there is definitely something else wrong with the child.
Babies may go through sleep difficulties, not being able to sleep for long and comfortably. While sleeping they might wake up all of a sudden due to pain.

A root canal is defined as a dental procedure where a severely decayed tooth is restored by removing the dead or dying nerve tissues, including the decayed pulp material inside the tooth. It is then sealed with a latex material. The procedure is successful when the pain is gone.
The purpose of a root canal is to relieve the pain and prevent further decay of the tooth from within. Replacing the decayed material pulp of the tooth with latex pulp enables the patient to keep their teeth. An irregularly shaped tooth is also prone to infections and may need a root canal procedure.
The advantage of a root canal is that the patient gets to keep their original tooth. It also prevents infection. The disadvantage is that nerves or tissues that are not removed may cause gum infections. These may occur when nerves or tissues are pushed to the roots during the application of the latex. When infection occurs after a root canal procedure, taking oral antibiotics is the most frequent treatment. If the infection is persistent for months, there is no other recourse but a root canal or tooth extraction as the nerves are either dead or decaying. If the infection is new, it may only be due to nerve irritation and can still be treated.
Pulp Capping – This involves the removal of decayed and infected tissues, sterilization, and stoppage of the bleeding in the area and application of the filling. This is one of the ways to avoid a root canal. Proper pulp capping can last long.
Extractions – The last recourse is complete removal of the tooth. This is less expensive but having dentures later will be costly. Be sure to think of all the drawbacks before you undergo tooth extraction.
2nd Opinion – If you have doubts regarding your dentist’s explanation or treatment approach then you have all the right to see another dentist.
